To reach those facing the greatest challenges, we’ve created intentional initiatives that guide people toward more fulfilling lives. These are specifically designed to focus on our community’s most underserved and undervalued members:
Individuals experiencing homelessness, including those who are chronically unhoused
Hardworking single parents or low-income families with multiple children
Low-income senior citizens
People recently released from incarceration or in recovery
Anyone entering or re-entering the workforce

The “Street to Sanctuary” program is designed to comprehensively address the immediate and long-term needs of individuals experiencing homelessness. By engaging participants in meaningful community service, the program fosters a sense of structure and normalcy. It not only enhances vital social and life skills but also cultivates valuable work experience and nurtures positive self-esteem, empowering individuals to reclaim their lives.
Our primary objective is to equip participants—especially those facing chronic homelessness—with essential skills, knowledge, and motivation to elevate their social standing, life, and work skills. Through this initiative, we aim to facilitate self-sufficiency and sustainable stability, ultimately guiding individuals on the path to reentering the workforce and society with confidence.
Tailored to the unique needs of each individual. The program typically spans 18 months and is structured around a progressive tiered system, starting at Level 1 and advancing to Level 6. Participants are encouraged to engage consistently by committing to a set number of program hours each week. As they progress through the levels, they are expected to arrive on time Monday through Friday, instilling a sense of responsibility and discipline, and developing the foundation to a strong work ethic. By the end of the program, participants will have adapted to a daily regimen reminiscent of a traditional work environment, while honing a variety of new skills and abilities, paving the way for a smoother transition into employment.
Participants have numerous avenues to earn reward credits by attending a variety of educational classes offered at K4C. These include financial management workshops, work readiness training, sessions on accessing community resources, and goal-setting seminars. Each class is thoughtfully designed to address the specific challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness, empowering them with the tools to achieve self-sufficiency, sustainable stability, and successful reentry into the workforce.
Engagement in local clean-up initiatives and community beautification projects serves as a pivotal aspect of the program. Participants can immerse themselves in restoring parks and enhancing public spaces, which not only instills a sense of purpose but also fosters connections with the community. As participants accumulate points and demonstrate improved social and teamwork skills, they may earn transportation to volunteer at partner organizations and animal rescues, further enriching their experiences.
